Goodbye, Summer: Fallin' into Fall

HELLO! To you & to the cusp of autumn.
Summer's been a fun and colorful ride, but we're ready for the busy buzz of fall.

Here in California, our ongoing joke is that we don't really have seasons.
They all blur into each other. And with September around the corner, we're still having warm days.
So how do we dress for that?

Here, H sports a fun jumpsuit. The darker color makes it suitable for fall.
The bright yellow scarf makes a quirky addition to the outfit, keeping it still appropriate for the end of summer. And those elephants! How fun is that?

The wide legs and loose fabric keep it suitable for the end of summer; it helps keep things cool so it's definitely still possible to wear outfits with pants. No need to shy away from that! And since these pants are long, it's probably best to wear some sort of heels. Here, H wears nude wedges.

These prints are monochrome, but because the design is so busy, it's best to wear a solid color scarf with it and keeping everything else simple. H doesn't wear black very often because it doesn't look as good with her skin tone; so in this case, it was a good choice to wear a bright scarf that would help even out the color palette.

People tend to not wear jumpsuits because they're convinced that only "tall people" look great in them. You don't have to be model-esque to wear anything. H is about 5'5" and that's pretty average height; she looks tall here, but working on good posture, wearing higher shoes, and posing for the picture. But the most important factor was that she was comfortable.

Sure, there are certain styles that help accentuate specific features, but as long as you have fun and are comfortable in what you wear, then you'll look great in whatever you choose! And your best accessory? A big smile. :) (excuse the cheesiness, but we love cheese).

Not into the jumpsuit idea? Still too hot for pants for you? Totally understandable. Opt for skirts and light cardigans like A did here.

She wore a floral skirt that clearly has a summery vibe. The darker cardigan and booties are both a nod to autumn though.

This outfit is fun and light, making it appropriate for end of summer music festivals or a night at the movies. The cardigan is a good choice because if it gets too warm, it's thin enough to fold and stick into your bag. And those booties will definitely keep your little toes nice and warm on cooler nights.

The best thing about this outfit is that it has a lot of movement! And that it has pockets. And that the shoes are comfy. Okay, so there are a lot of great things about this #ootd. And how great is that hair? With A's long hair, this style is quick and fun; she pulled two strands of braids together and pinned it in the back. And voila! Done.

The skirt's patterns have a sweet pastel color that makes it a perfect transition piece. It's bright enough for summer, but mute enough for fall.

And don't think that this is only appropriate as a transitional piece! You can definitely pair this with leggings for fall and/or winter. This is an outfit that works year round.

These shoes are versatile too. The tassel zippers are an adorable detail too!
